THE COMMERCE STACK / FRAUD MANAGEMENT

Put a review process around the transaction.

Explore controls offered by suitable providers alongside the way your team reviews orders. Tools need clear operating rules and a process for handling mistakes.

03

FROM A CATEGORY TO A WORKING PLAN

Make the details explicit.

Use these checkpoints to turn the conversation into a clear scope for your proposed providers.

01

Sales context

Explain the channels, order values, fulfillment timing, and concerns that matter to your business.

02

Control selection

Ask which verification, authentication, or review options are supported. Discuss how rules affect customer checkout and who can change them.

03

Escalation

Document who reviews flagged activity, when orders should pause, and how issues are reported to the provider. No tool removes all risk.

FRAUD, ALERTS & DISPUTE PROTECTION

Different tools.
Different moments to act.

Fraud screening happens around the sale. Transaction clarification can address confusion after it. Pre-dispute services may enable a credit before a chargeback, while formal dispute management handles an existing case. A useful protection plan defines each layer and its limits.

01

Before the sale

Provider fraud controls and staff review.

02

After the purchase

Transaction details that help customers recognize the sale.

03

Before a chargeback

Alerts or automated credit workflows for eligible cases.

04

After a case is filed

Evidence and responses under provider instructions.

UNDERSTAND THE PROGRAMS

RDR, CDRN, Ethoca—and the differences.

Educational program overview. Third-party names do not imply a Waytrix partnership or confirmed availability. Verify current terms and coverage with the proposed provider.

Verifi / Automated pre-dispute resolution

RDR

Rapid Dispute Resolution

How it works

Seller-defined rules can trigger a cardholder credit before a chargeback.

Coverage to verify

Eligible Visa pre-disputes

Before enrollment

Confirm enrollment, rule settings, financial treatment, notifications, and reconciliation with the provider.

Read Verifi’s overview
Verifi / Merchant-directed pre-dispute response

CDRN

Cardholder Dispute Resolution Network

How it works

Verifi describes a 72-hour opportunity for the merchant to initiate a credit.

Coverage to verify

Participating Visa and non-Visa cases

Before enrollment

Confirm case instructions, response ownership, refund status, and the applicable deadline; do not assume all alerts use this window.

Read Verifi’s overview
Ethoca / Early fraud and dispute notification

Ethoca

Ethoca Alerts

How it works

Issuer information lets merchants review the affected transaction, stop fulfillment where appropriate, and refund or otherwise respond through the approved workflow.

Coverage to verify

Cases shared through participating issuers

Before enrollment

Confirm issuer reach, merchant matching, response deadlines, delivery method, and outcome reporting. It is not universal card-network coverage.

Visa / Transaction recognition and dispute deflection

Order Insight

Order Insight

How it works

Detailed merchant and purchase information helps customers and issuers understand a transaction. Specialized deflection capabilities have separate eligibility and data requirements.

Coverage to verify

Participating issuer and merchant connections

Before enrollment

Confirm available features and required transaction data. This is different from automatically crediting a customer.

Ethoca / Post-purchase transaction transparency

Consumer Clarity

Ethoca Consumer Clarity

How it works

Merchant and purchase information is made available in bank apps and to issuer staff to help explain a transaction.

Coverage to verify

Participating banking and issuer experiences

Before enrollment

Confirm the supported data connection and participating channels. Consumer Clarity is distinct from Ethoca Alerts.

PUT THE PROCESS AROUND THE TOOL

An alert needs
an accountable response.

Assign an owner and backup before enabling a service. Confirm how each case reaches staff, what action is permitted, and how the result gets recorded.

Discuss dispute-protection options
  1. Match the transaction

Confirm the payment reference, descriptor, amount, and current refund status.

  2. Review the right deadline

Read the applicable program instructions. RDR decisioning, CDRN cases, and other alerts do not share one universal response process.

  3. Act and record

Use the authorized provider workflow, record the outcome, and coordinate fulfillment or service changes where relevant.

  4. Reconcile and learn

Match credits and refunds to the original transaction, review fees, and investigate repeat dispute reasons.

WHAT TO ASK IN YOUR PROPOSAL

Know the protection.
Know the trade-off.

Which descriptors, accounts, issuers, and transaction types are enrolled?

Who defines RDR rules and monitors their financial impact?

How are already-refunded transactions and duplicate notifications handled?

What fees apply, and which credits or refunds remain the merchant’s cost?

What access, integration, and evidence-retention responsibilities apply?

Is any loss guarantee actually included, and what are its exclusions?

FREQUENTLY ASKED

Chargeback-protection questions.

Does chargeback protection mean every loss is covered?

No. Alerts, credits, transaction clarification, dispute responses, and contractual guarantees are different services. Any reimbursement or liability promise must be stated explicitly in the provider agreement, including exclusions and conditions.

Are RDR and CDRN the same service?

No. RDR uses automated rules for eligible Visa pre-disputes. CDRN provides a merchant-directed response workflow for participating Visa and non-Visa cases. Confirm the exact service and enrollment with the provider.

Can an alert result in a refund cost?

Yes. Preventing a chargeback by crediting or refunding the transaction can return the sale amount to the customer. Compare that amount, service fees, fulfillment costs, and operational effort when evaluating a program.

What if the transaction was already refunded?

Check the original payment and refund status before taking action. Use the provider’s reconciliation and duplicate-handling process so staff do not issue an additional credit by mistake.

Does Waytrix Pay already provide these programs?

This page explains third-party programs for educational and consultation purposes. Waytrix availability, authorized relationships, enrollment, pricing, and processor compatibility require verification. No direct integration or partnership is claimed.

What about a chargeback that has already been filed?

Follow the acquirer or processor’s formal case instructions, deadlines, and evidence requirements. A pre-dispute alert program does not replace the response process for an existing chargeback.

CLARITY AT EVERY CONNECTION

Technology

Implementation

FREQUENTLY ASKED

Questions about fraud management.

Who provides this capability?

Capabilities are supplied by the selected technology or service provider under its own terms. This ecosystem explains how systems may work together; it is not a live Waytrix software platform.

What should we confirm before connecting it?

For fraud management, review these areas with the proposed providers: sales context, control selection, escalation. Request written confirmation of responsibilities, compatibility, and costs.

Can we start with our existing setup?

Yes, the planning conversation can begin with your current tools. Whether they can remain depends on the exact equipment, software versions, agreements, and supported connections.
